Any interest in Sinar 54H back
« on: September 05, 2009, 12:13:43 pm »

I'm wondering if there is any interest within this community in the Sinar 54H digital back with fibre optic interface. The item in question is located in Bangkok, Thailand, and works as well today as it did when it was bought in late 2003. However, it uses fibre optic media to connect to the Mac and this requires an interface card which as far as I know is only compatible with the early generation of PowerMacs; we use a dual-processor G4 which has been extremely reliable and stable.

I have adaptor plates for Hassey V series, Mamiya 645AF and Bronica SQ, and I'm currently advertising a stitching sliding adaptor on EBay that enables this back to be used with a view camera such as Sinar P2 and Sinar X, with the ability to capture very high quality still life images up to approx 35 megapixel resolution (~90MB file size) without interpolation.

Does anyone know if it is possible to convert or adapt this model to use a USB interface? Or let me know if you might be interested in acquiring it as is.

hi Dennis,

no, it is not possible to convert a FO back into a USB or even FW interface.

I would suggest to contact Sinar's new distributor in Thailand/Bangkok:

SOTA VISTA, a division of SOTA Corp. Ltd.
383 Patanakarn 50, Suanluang
10250 Bangkok
Thailand

Phone: (+6681) 8 178 105
Fax: (+662) 7 212 069
E-mail: info@sotavista.com

My best regards,
Thierry
