Canon S10

I am glad to see that Canon has revived the 'S' line.

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0908/09081906...ns90handson.asp

I have owned the S30, S70 and lamented the loss of RAW capability in the S80.  The S90 is a completely revised form and will take some getting use to.  There is one new feature that I notice on the S90 that is really cool; that is the lens ring selector control.  But is it me or did Canon totally miss it on this feature?  One of the things I liked about the previous 'S' cameras was the included view finder.  The S90 is sans viewfinder, too bad because I really prefer to hold a camera close to my face for stability and control.  So, it seems to me that a lens ring control is ideal if you are holding the camera to your eye and you want to make changes while looking through the viewfinder.  But if you are holding the camera in front of you composing on the screen, then reaching around to fiddle with a lens ring would seem to be a bit awkward!  At least Canon did not try and cram 24MP onto a tiny sensor and they have brought back RAW capability to the 'S' series.  I applaud the move in the right direction.  But I think I'll stick with my G10 and LX3 for awhile.

Title should say 'S90' sorry for the typo!

I had an S50 and it was a pretty nice camera for the time. The S90 looks good on paper: wider f/2 lens, raw as well as a stop to the stupid amount of pixels - I hope it delivers.

On the viewfinder issue, the one on my S50 was so far out I never really bothered using it. It wasn't even straight!

I hope you guys are really talking about the S90 and not the S10 (which came out in 1999 at 2.1 MP).
