Epson Ethernet Firmware Update v1.03?
« on: August 18, 2009, 08:07:37 pm »

Epson recently released "Epson Stylus Pro 4880, 7880 and 9880 Series Ethernet Firmware Update v1.03".
The only thing they say is "This firmware update improves Ethernet functionality."

Generally I jump on all updates quickly, but I am hesitating because a.) my Ethernet connection to the 4880 works fine; b.) I can't imagine what additional Ethernet functionality there might be; c.) failed firmware upgrades are nasty, and if not necessary are best avoided.

Does anyone know what this one is all about?

I have my suspicions what it's all about, and don't ask me why I use USB with my 9880.  In my case the printer Ethernet connection seemed to get confused whenever a laptop was on the network.  Will I try this new version?  NO!

I have had similar experience with USB -- too many external disks and stuff and the printer connection is often questionable... but my ethernet has been stable.
