Lr doing weird things to white ballance
« on: August 15, 2009, 04:23:53 pm »

Hello,

after shooting one afternoon with overcast skys I recognized that the white-ballance in Lr looked strange. So I decided to watch one of my frames in Capture NX2, a tools that comes directly from Nikon. I saw In Lr a whiteballance of 5050K, in Captre NX2 it was much higher around 6000k.

To be sure that I make no mistake, I took a few testshots on my balcony. I set the white-ballance of my camera manually to different values, wrote them down to a paper and compared everyhing with the setting in Lr and Capture NX2.

After this test I was sure - Lr is doing weird things to white-ballance. The values which were set in Lr aree completly different from the values I set to the camera and which werde shown in Capure NX2.

Am I doing anything wrong or is white-ballance such a problem for Lr ? Do users of Canon cameras have the same problem or is this problem specific to Nikon-cameras ?

Best wishes

Hi,

John Shaw gave me the right hint to stis problem by mail :

I accidently saved defaults for the developement settings and set the wb as shot fix to 5050K.

After I reseted the defaults, everythig was ok again.

Many thanks to John Shaw !!!

Btw., his new workflow pdf is absolutely excellent and gave me many hints !

Best wishes
