So, what's wrong with the Leica R's?
« on: August 14, 2009, 04:32:34 pm »

I've been casting around looking at Leicas and am amazed at the price difference between the R's and the M's. Why so? Are the lenses less worthy, are the body's less reliable, is it a fashion thing? I really am quite puzzled.

Fewer creature comforts.  Most of the glass is awesome.  The bodies: some are indestructible, some are only OK, and the last two can be used with a (scarce) 16-bit digital back.

Not all but most Leica R glass is amazing. I mean the 19mm, 28, 35, 100, 180 and so on. They work well on canon or Leica.

The main problem, the R line is discontinued. So that's it.
