LR opens RAW as RAW & not TIFF
« on: July 27, 2009, 11:39:23 am »

Hi Everyone - sitting here pulling my hair out - I'm editing my .CR2 or DNG raw files in Lightroom (2.1 ACR 5.2) but when I Apple -E an image, it opens up in Photoshop as a RAW extinsion, not a TIFF - Bridge does the same thing, any help?

That's normal behavior. Once you actually SAVE the document, you're set. And BTW, it can't open it as "raw" since you've not got a rendered RGB image, in memory, awaiting you to save it as some file format (TIFF, JPEG, PSD). Until Photoshop can read our minds, it can't pop an extension into the name in this dialog.

Thanks for replying - what ever happen to the Dialog box after you Select an image, Apple-E the image & a dialog box comes up & ask if you want to "Edit the Original, or Edit an Copy" etc....

Not sure what dialog you refer to. Once you set how you want your preset for Export To Application (i.e. 16-bit, ProPhoto etc), that's what you get. No need for a dialog.

You only get it when you edit a TIF or PSD file.
