Pls. Reccomend me some Slideshow Software
« on: July 23, 2009, 08:18:08 pm »

I would like to produce a slideshow of my trip to NZ South Island and I want to do more with it than Lightroom's Slideshow module allows - specifically, setting individual slide times, text only slides, multiple music tracks and the ability to export the whole slide show to something like quicktime for web purposes as well.

Can anyone please recommend some software? (preferably something that wont take me weeks to get up to speed on).

Thanks.

Thanks - thats looks pretty good. Do you know if it allows images to be inserted at the output resolution of the display device and pass them through without scaling?

In other words - I want to finish my images at 1920x1080 resolution, input them to the slideshow software with no scaling by the slideshow software.

Hi!

I use FotoMagico on the Mac and Picture2exe on Windows.
http://boinx.com/fotomagico/overview/

Here is a small sample from an old slide show I made in Fotomagico (it's intended as a demo on how I present panoramas).

http://83.177.178.241/ekr/multimedia/TPOI_Godafoss.mov
http://83.177.178.241/ekr/multimedia/TPOI_Godafoss_720p.mov

Both can generate very nice slide shows which are playable applications on the Mac or the PC. Both can export movies (which is a not very efficient way of showing still images).  Both are easy to use, but FotoMagico is kind of intuitive.

The reason I use two programs is that people don't have Macs, making a 'movie' presentation is very wastful with both resources and time and at least on Mac OS Tiger I also had problems with color.

FotoMagico can export to "movies" in a lot of formats, including "Quicktime", but I normall use the HD-formats 720p or 1080p.

Best regards
Erik

Hi, I use Proshow Producer. It has multiple output options which include chosing the output resolution.

Fotomagico for the Mac - totally awesome results and Mac-like (easy) to use.

Bud

BTW, as a former PC user, I have a copy of Photodex Producer (with dongle) and ProShow Gold for sale - $50.

The software Wings Platinum from Stumpfl is also interesting, it was once developed to control multivisions with Kodak Carousel units.

Josh,

Have you tried http://slideshowpro.net/products/slideshow...o_for_lightroom  Apparently 120 options that includes timings.

It requires ProShow Gold which is windows only - not an option for me (or rather, I am not installing winblows on my mac :-)

Thanks Bud, Fotomagico looks like the goods - will give it a try over the weekend.

Strange as I have just installed the MAC Lightroom free trial version and playing with it at the present time. It offers many controls, including timings for the slide show, even padding the design, etc, etc There is also a help section on how to embed into HTML for better SEO.

Sorry - you are correct - I thought you were reffering to this Lightroom Plug in.

Isnt this just for making websites though?

Although aimed at websites I am not sure if there is a way of using the software just for slide shows.
You can but you have to know what you're doing with autorun.inf files and whatever the Mac equivalent may be, and even then you are bound to run into someone with an archaic version of Flash or other issues. SlideShowPro's various products are very good, but they're not designed for DVD authoring like ProShow.

Hi,

I have tested the SlideShow Pro plugin for Lightroom, but I don't see that you can do the same kind of controlled animation, synchronization with music and son as can be made in FotoMagico and Picture2exe, the two tools I use. If you just want to a presentation on the web SSP is very good.

Best regard
Erik
