Epson 3800
« on: July 23, 2009, 05:37:34 pm »

OS X 10.5.7, Lightroom 2.4, Photoshop CS3. Problem: Just purchased a 3800 but cannot access any advanced PrintSettings ABW, media type etc. from the driver—either in LR or CS3, no matter the profile chosen, or let printer manage. Any thoughts? TIA...skipc

1. Bundled software: Advanced Print Settings etc. are all ; The bundle "PrintSettings" cannot be loaded because it does not contain a version for the current architecture. [run uninstall]

2. Epson USA: Downloaded and installed epson12786 [Intel] Stylus Pro 3800 Printer Driver 6.11/3.57 Mac OS 10.3.9 - 10.5.x;  none of the advanced setting appear. [run uninstall]

3. Epson Europe: results as above. [run uninstall]

This sounds like the OS is using the built in driver instead of the Epson driver. When I install OS X I disable all of the printer drivers to avoid this conflict.  I think what you may need to do is disable or uninstall OS X's CUPS driver for the Epson printer.  Maybe someone that has actually done it could help, or try a google for "disabling CUPS driver OS X"

Thanks. I suspect that something got corrupted. I had backed up prior to installing the 3800 software and had exported my Lightroom library as a catalog, I zeroed out the HDD and reinstalled the System and Epson software. All now works as required. [Thread Closed]

This is a known problem with running LR as a 64-bit app.

"I zeroed out the HDD and reinstalled the System and Epson software. All now works as required".

Is LR running as a 64-bit or 32-bit app, after doing this?
