Hasselblad H3D11-60, When? Live Video?
« on: July 17, 2009, 10:02:07 am »

When will the Hasselblad H3D11-60 ship?

Will it come with working live video?

Will they give me a free upgrade for doing without live video on my H3D11-50?

not so soon I suspect. it was almost certainly a spoiler announcement, to stop people choosing Phase over them at present.

Phase got the jump on them for world leading MF digiback, so they announced a me-too product quickly, that is not going to appear for a good while yet, I suspect.

I am confused a bit.
Does it mean that the H3D11-50 has no live video? I was demoed the II39
Multi Shot and the Live video worked ( less vivid and clear than my 54H Sinarback
with the LC shutter).

H3DII-50 has different architecture from 39. So Live video doesn't work with Phocus 1.2
Not sure Phocus 1.2.1 and new firmware fix this or not.
If not H3DiI-50 has no live video yet.

Thank you for the clarification. I am asking the questions because we are interested in  a new multi-shot
camera and the Russian dealer said that Hasselblad would be  manufacturing a new multi-shot on the basis of their
H3II-50 camera soon. I cannot imagine using a MS camera on a tall copying stand without the live view and software control
of the main shooting parameters and focusing.

This is correct. The camera is delivered since 8 months. Repeated direct requests to the support and here in the forum about a specific deilvery date for what has been sold and paid for remained unanswered. And their CEO prefers to make bold statements to the press about their strategies. You can draw your own conclusions about that behaviour.

Neither Phocus 1.2.1 nor the new firmware (332 or 339) fix this... the H3D11-50 has no live video... and I bought it to use on a view camera with the "point and shoot" as a bonus.

Yuck! that is hurt. Does it mean you don't know this before you bought H3DII-50?

I told the Hasselblad salesman that I wanted to use it on a view camera, and asked him if he could supply the required adaptors, so he knew I wanted it for live video... but there was a slip in the packaging saying that live video "would be implemented".

When I told the salesman that I wanted to return the camera for refund, he said I was aware that live video was not implemented when I bought the camera... but it was news to him that live video was not implemented when I told him.

Unless you opened all of the packing materials and saw the slip BEFORE you bought the camera, your salesman is simply wrong and you have a right to a refund. This is obvious and you should demand it.  I really don't understand why you have not. OTOH, perhaps your dealer would have a different version of the facts.

When upgrading from the 39 (which had live view), not even the distributor knew that it wasn't working. It was promised to be availaable soon. 8 months ago.
It's the same with imagetank support, which is delivered just now (after the information in february or march that imagetanks would no longer be built).

I am hoping to upgrade to the 60, if that has live view, when it is available.

Paul Waterworth, Hasselblad UK, says:

When will the Hasselblad H3D11-60 ship? September this Year

Will it come with working live video? YES

Live video will be enabled on the H3D11-50 "this month"

...and if I upgrade to the 60 they will give me a weekend at the NASA Space Centre!
