Epson 16-bit Print Drivers for 9800
« on: July 10, 2009, 03:50:20 pm »

I noticed Epson posted 16-bit print drivers for Mac OS 10.5 and I was wondering:

1) Did you notice an impovement in tonality when you switched from the 8-bit print driver to the 16-bit driver?

2) Do you know if Epson plans on updating the PC 9800 print drivers to be 16-bit, as they've done with Mac?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

1. Not really (the benefits are really very subtle). You'd probably, maybe, sometimes, see a slight difference in a very smooth gradient. But its nice having the ability to send all the data to the driver. What Epson can do in the future is unknown, but having all that data provides them some flexibility.

2. Nope, the OS doesn't support it.
