CLoser examination showed that I was wrong. DCRaw created blotch-free jpgs, because it uses a blcak point of 0. The blotchines in CR is the fault of CR's conversion curve (I mean how it converts the linear AD values to logarithmic levels.) When I select a 'Shadows' value greater than a given treshold (sometimes this treshold is 0) the darkest pixels meld and this creates the blotchiness.
But now I know how to fight it!
