I have a Epson 2400 printer. I've had problems with the ink absorbing pads coming undone and coming out of the front of the printer with smeared ink on the paper. After having the machine repaired three times by the local Epson recommended service company it still happened again!
My question is twofold. Someone told me that I don't really need this pad and that I can replace this pad with my own spongy type thing. Is this true and if so how do I do it?
Also, since this keeps happening I decided to buy a new Epson 2880 printer which is on the way. I was thinking of turning the old 2400 printer into a Pieazo (sp) type printer for my B&W work. Is that possible for this unit? Anyone have any thoughts about this?
