click-drag to change order in library or slideshow?
« on: July 05, 2009, 04:12:05 pm »

Hello,

I'm embarrassed to ask, but why can't I click-drag photos in grid view to change their order in the library? Trying to order a slideshow just won't work.  Using Mac, LR2, I click on a photo to drag it to somewhere else and it just snaps back to where it was.

Thanks, Neil

got it- you can't change the order in a smart collection for some reason.

Or any collection for that matter.  Only in the folders...

Yes, you can in a dumb collection. Like folders, you have to do so at the lowest level - not a parent folder.

Dragging and dropping wouldn't make so much sense in a smart collection because it's essentially a query that's refreshed each time you go to it. For a slideshow, it's best to use the smart collection to target and gather pictures, but then base the slideshow on a dumb collection.

The ability to reorder a slideshow on the fly would be a really nice feature.  Too bad LR can't make it happen.
