Hi guys
I am just about to get back my Z3100 printer after it has been sitting in storage for months (unpowered) and subsequently undertook a transcontinental journey. Basically I wanted some advice on anything I should do prior to attempt to restart it's life by installing new print heads and cartridges (the old ones were taken out prior to storage).
Bit nervous about receiving it given the chance things may longer be working!
Many thanks
In case you had left the heads and carts in the printer I would have written: shake the old carts thoroughly and do some cleanings + print multiple profile targets till the ink tubes are cleared of old ink and then replace the old heads and/or carts if there are problems. Only print the targets, not profile, it is just to clear the lines. Calibrate and profile when the tubes content is replaced.
If you did store the old heads not in optimal conditions (cold, humid) I wouldn't replace them in this case as it may be the worst component now to replace. But the old ink in the tubes would be my main worry now as that might compromise the new heads. All theoretically, it may be no problem at all in practice.
