I am considering running workshops on canvas printing, framing and gallery wrapping of canvas. I have a new gallery showroom that is finally completed and plenty of workshop space in my adjoining cabinetry facility. I have been thinking about finding someone to join up with me on running this new venture with a higher degree of skillsets on the technical end. (processing,color management) It would also give us a little more content to teach if we stretch this to a 2 day course.With printing and wrapping canvas we have several issues that need overnight time to dry. Ink on the prints and varnish coating. We would like the students to each bring an image along so that we can print,coat and gallery wrap one for each student to take home. Their own personal image ,not one of mine.
So the questions are ,can this be run as a 1 day workshop? Students would have to send the file ahead of time to give me time for printing,coating and dry time. Not really sure I want to do that as these folks will be paying to learn how it should be done,I already know how to do it!
Do we have enough content to stretch this into a 2 day workshop which means overnight stays?How will that go over?
Finally cost? One day vs. two days virtually doubles the cost. I was thinking $395 per person for 1 day and maybe $595 if we stretch it to 2 days. This would include all materials for a 20" X 30" gallery wrap and meals. This would be a hands on workshop from printing your own image to making your stretcher frame and finally stretching your own canvas print on our gallery stretcher machine. Our location is in Pa. 1 hr. west of Philadelphia.
I want to do this right so your input is greatly appreciated. See any red flags?
