External Drive not listed on the Folders panel

I've been using an external drive for backup of my internal drive but just noticed that it does not appear on the LR2 Folders panel. Only the internal drive is listed. Shouldn't the external drive be listed even though none of my photos are stored there (except as backup)? If "yes", any ideas on how to correct this?

Lightroom will only show folders from which you have imported files with the "add photos to catalog without moving" option selected
