nikon scanner 5000 update 4.0.2

My nikon scanner software does not seem to want to update it says is does but when I open the software back up it still says 4.0.0 I have tried this with both 10.4.11 and 10. 5.7 on an intel  imac. It seems to run fine on my mac pro But I want this scanner off my main system. David
