Wobbly green plastic tab on Epson 4000 head
« on: June 18, 2009, 01:56:32 pm »

Late last night after discovering that the cyan was partially clogged - partly through a large roll paper print - again, after daily printing and regular nozzle checks - I decided to try some of the unclogging tips that have been posted in this forum previously, e.g. "Puddling The Cap" (http://www.spectraflow.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=96:tech-tip-puddling-the-cap-epson-4000-7600-9600&catid=50:individual-tech-tips&Itemid=68) and cleaning the capping station as shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uN8T8tbzPEI...feature=related.

I also pulled out the maintenance tank and wiped up some slimy bubbles that had accumulated around the centre ring. Printing resumed much better. Whew.

Unfortunately, I pushed down a little too hard on the green plastic arrow tab on the bottom left of printer head carriage while trying to find the cutter release (I know, I should have just gone to bed and started fresh in the morning :-o

I heard a faint tap sound and a tinkle like something falling into the machine; not sure if I broke a tiny piece of plastic molding or not. Couldn't find anything, but the green plastic tab now droops loosely and I think is what is now causing a light tapping sound when printing.

The cutter still works fine, so no problems *yet*, but if anyone knows how to reseat the green tab more firmly, I'd certainly appreciate it.

thanks,
