Ricky Maynard exhibition MCA Sydney
« on: June 08, 2009, 08:17:16 pm »

Popped into the Museum of Contemporary Art to see the Ricky Maynard Exhibition which was quite interesting. I was surprised however to see the exhibition upstairs which has had no publicity at all. Here are the descriptions of the two exhibitions:

RICKY MAYNARD:
PORTRAIT OF A DISTANT LAND
4 June – 23 August
"Images of Tasmania’s physical and social landscapes by Flinders Island-based documentary photographer Ricky Maynard. this project records cultural and historical sites significant to Maynard’s people, the Ben Lomond and Cape Portland peoples of Tasmania."

REVEALING MOMENTS IN TIME
Selected by Ricky Maynard
5 June – 23 August
"Ricky Maynard selects works by photographers who have influenced his professional practice including Ansel Adams, Walker Evans, Mary Ellen Mark and Edward Weston."

The exhibition also included Dorothea Lange and Paul Strand. Some big names and it goes on for almost 3 months so there is plenty of opportunity to see it.

Cheers,
