I saw this very compact Sigma on display at Adorama, could not find a review on it, so I decided to test it against the Canon and Nikon. If you are in the market for a standard zoom lens and are wondering about the Sigma,
check it out, it will help you make a decision, hopefully )

Thanks for posting this.
I have a good copy of the Canon and I used to own the older Sigma version (non-HSM) and i have tried a Nikon version for a few mins. To be honest, I think there's a bigger difference between photographers than there are between the optics of these lenses. It's a bit like comparing 70-200/2.8's, they are all very much the same optically. What did occur to me theough was the build difference, weight and size difference between them all.
The Sigma is really cheap feeling, the Nikon felt very professional and the Canon was excellent too.
Some forums will have you thinking that the Nikkor is a far better lens than the Canon oe Sigma but the truth is that there is very little between them.
