Thick paper on z3100
« on: May 28, 2009, 02:21:51 am »

I tried printing on a 500g rag paper the other day and found out that was too thick for the z3100. Went through the rollers fine but had some head strikes. I can't find any info on the max paper thickness. I know papers vary quite a bit so any info would be a ball park figure. What are people printing with for thick art papers?

I don;t know the max thickness is either, but if you have too much curl on your paper you will get marks on thicker paper
that is my experience anyway

Maximum thickness is 0.8mm. Your rag paper will not exceed that so it doesn't tell all about media feeding.

Yes the spec is 0.8mm but the weight varies depending on density of the paper. We loaded some sheets of Arches Torchon at 500g/m2 a long time ago into the roll feed slot. It went through was tight and had just a little touch on the very edge. So if the media is very flat, you can try and load thick heavyweight paper but just know that over 0.8mm will stress the machine in areas that may cause more than image quality problems.
