Moving house with a 3800
« on: May 24, 2009, 02:33:53 pm »

I'm moving house in the next few days and am wondering how to deal with my 3800. Do I just keep it level and hope for the best? I'm pretty sure that I'm going to do it myself, rather than let the removal people do it, and since I'm only going a mile up the road, I'm quite happy to put the thing in the boot of my car and drive it there at 5mph if necessary.

Any tips?

Thanks

Jeremy

Yes, just keep it level and keep the ink carts installed.

I am planning to transport an Epson 7900 in the near future.
Carrying it to my flat (3rd floor without an elevator) a few months ago was a real pain.

Why does it need to be kept level ? Is the ink likely to leak from somewhere if I incline the printer in the stairs ?

Mostly so various hinge doors / latches don't open up and things come loose and fall out.

During normal shipment there's lots of blue packing tape keeping things tight and discouraging parts from moving. If one is just going up the road, it's overkill to reinstall all the packing tape.

My 3800 survived a move from the Washington DC area to North Carolina via the back seat of my car. No problems at all. Ran a head alignment and went right to work. YMMV.
