I'm thinking the stem at right is ugly, but I need something there and don't know how to replace it.  Or maybe it's OK to leave as is.  Panasonic G1, daylight auto-exposure, ISO 80.

I'd just take it out.  The background is sufficiently diffuse that I don't think anyone would notice its absence.

I don't think it's ugly, but the crop is awkward: it needs to go right to the top of the frame. Then you have the contrast of the curly vine and its straight support.

With a lot of work, you could remove it in post, although the part at the bottom where the tendrils are would be very time consuming I imagine. You might be able to clone the stem upwards perhaps?

(Not using the clone tool which can create obvious repeating patterns if you aren't very careful, but lots of small well-feathered selections with irregular edges.)

It took a minute or so with the healing brush + clone tool

Wow - that's a beautiful photograph - who did...... (oops).

Thanks Alain, I don't see any seams or wrinkles at all - perfect.
