Some landscapes for anyone who cares to offer some critique.

Thanks

They're all good - especially #3 and #5.  I can't be sure whether I'm seeing a lot of noise in #5, because it's so small.  On #1, the drama here is so overwhelming that it's pushing the image toward cliche.  If it were mine I'd reduce some of the contrast, maybe in the very dark clouds at least.

I really like #3 & 5.  Composition is very good.  I'm not as bothered as Dale by #1, although I would crop out the foliage on the right.  It just didn't work for me.  But highlights are well controlled.  I'm biased toward high contrast, so I like it.

My opinion...

#1 - really interesting photograph, but the foliage on the right is distracting. Suggest cropping it out.
#2 - for me the shot is not enough, what's the subject? My eye looks at the rainbow and naturally travels along it only to find myself stopping at the top wondering where it goes. Might have been better using shorter lens or walking backwards a way.
#3 - lovely image. I feel drawn to follow the track from the lower left and around the valley, in which case a bit more of the left would have been nice, but then the track may disappear even further! Equally, one could follow the stream around the lake to the right and meander up the valley. Nice work! Lots of interest, good to follow around but leaving some suspense. Like it.
#4 - nice view, lovely light. Not sure if the foreground adds anything to the view - try cropping it lengthways.
#5 - nice sunset. Lousy light in valley. Does little for me I'm afraid.

Thanks guys for your honest opinion, much appreciated. Glad everyone likes #3 as it happens to be one of my own favourites. Also have a version of #1 with the foliage on the right cloned out and cropped a little top and bottom....however, this has not been converted to B&W.

Cheers

#3 for me.  I think you could make it more powerful with some well placed burning- slightly burn the lake, and more heavily burn the mountain faces and clouds.

I like the darker clouds, especially against the blue sky.  I'm not sure what I think about the burned lake- I might have been wrong about that one.  If I personally were printing this photo, I would increase the brightness and contrast a bit, to make the image more striking.  I think that would be a reasonable thing to do, given that there is impending action.  I really like the image, and I know it would look good hanging on a wall, printed around 2-3 feet wide.
