Sinar M and multishot
« on: May 16, 2009, 04:25:21 pm »

Does anybody use Sinar M for multishot with the Sinarback 54H?

The meny in my Sinar M does not (as far as I can see) have a choice for 4-shot and 16-shot.
The manual says that these modes should be possible to access from the mode-switch.
It says it is supposed to be single-contiuos-bracketing-selftimer-4-shot-16-shot.

My mode-menu goes like this: single-contiuos-bracketing-selftimer-focustrap-preview.

What is wrong? These choices couldn´t have been changed with some firmware-update?

Can anybody help me with this?

Henrik

Henrik,

Can you tell me what version of the software you are using?     Are you using eXposure or Capture Shop?

I am using CaptureShop 5.6.3.
Is Exposure working with multishot too?

Henrik,

I don't have much experience with eXposure yet, other than with the Hy6 single shot.    It should definitely be available in Capture Shop though.

Do you have the ability to see the M camera window in Capture Shop itself?    Can you change it via the 2 way communication from there?

Henrik,

I just had a thought.   Check to make sure the firmware on all the pieces of the puzzle are current.   Lens and interface plate come to mind.

In order to use them with Capture Shop 5.6.3 they all need to be upgraded to firmware 2.0 for the M.

I know the firmware of the Sinar M is 2.0, but how can I check the rest?

I found it. The back is only 1.0.
I will try to see if Sinar has a newer one now.

Options / Firmware.    Then you should be able to scroll thru the lens and interface listings.   All should be 2.0.

Are you using this in a P3 configuration or with a mirror box, prism and AF lens?

The newest one I could find for the 54H is 1.9.
Do you think that is the correct one?

I use an AF-lens at the moment.

1.9 is the current firmware for the 54H.   It is on the Sinar Site.

You do need the back upgraded to 1.9 in order to upgrade the M camera firmware or any of the components.

It doesn´t seem to work. Maybe I have to install a newer firmware than the 1.0 before I install the 1.9?
The 1.9 don´t want´t to be installed...

The problem seems to be that the Sinarback updater tells me the back already has the 1.9 firmware, but the Sinar M display says it is only 1.0.

Is there any kind of firmware-update needed for the connection-plate of the back??

1.9 is definitely needed for bi-directional communication with the M camera system.    I believe this is the cause of your problems.

I don't think you need to install any firmware in between.   None of the previous versions are still up on the website.

I think you are correct. The problem is that I can´t seem to get this version installed. I save it in my Mac and try to start the installation, it doesn´t work.
The installer tells me the connected back has the newest software, and the Sinar M display tells it is only 1.0. I don´t know .....?

Henrik,

you have to update the Sinar m, the back is alright with this firmware: contact tech @ Sinar to get the updater. Most probably you will have to update as well the mirror module.

Best regards,
Thierry

Is it telling you that the 54H Firmware is 1.0 on the M or the Firmware on the M camera?     What does it tell you inside Capture Shop when you look?

Thank you, Thierry! I was thinking the same. I am updating to 2.2 now to see what happens.
