Jeremy, That's no cobweb. Maybe Mike can tell us what it is. It looks like the bags a particular kind of caterpillar used to build in the springtime in northern Michigan. I've forgotten the name of the bug.

I thought it would have had to have been a bloody large spider. The shot was taken in India (Rajasthan) early last month.

Well, I like spiders because they keep the bug count down in my house, but I suspect I'd not want to meet up with that particular spider. On the other hand, that's a fascinating thought. Ever see the movie "Arachnophobia?" If that's actually a web, it probably was built by the culprit in that movie.

No, but I caught a few minutes of "Eight legged freaks" recently.

Anyone interested in the photo, by the way?

It is interesting and different - I haven't seen one quite like this on the forum. But it was impossible for me to tell anything about the web at normal viewing perspective, so I'd be inclined to (ahem) make the web larger in proportion to the whole image.
