One of the biggest gripes users of the Canon iPF printers have had is that Canon had "locked" the Media Types so that they only supported the paper paths (roll, tray, cassette) that corresponded to actual Canon Media offerings. For example, you weren't allowed to select roll paper as a source when the Media Type was set to Photo Paper Plus Semi-gloss (PPP-SG), because Canon doesn't make that paper in rolls.
This created problems when a third party paper manufacturer created a profile using one of the Canon Media Types that supported only some of the paper paths. It also caused problems if a user wanted to use a Canon Media Type to create a profile for a third party paper to take advantage of 32 pass printing (only supported for selected Canon Media Types).
According to tests by the Wiki members, this problem has now been quietly fixed with the latest Media Configuration Tool!
