Under the canopy

A couple of shots taken at Kortright centre, north of Toronto. The second is of wildflowers whose name I am still researching. I have added a third to show where I took the photo. I went onto the deck and shot across to the left. Very nice place and good light, bright, slightly overcast.

John, I don't think much of the wildflowers, but the forest is really excellent. The only problem is that it's subtle enough that it really requires a well-made print to bring out the subtleties. A 72 ppi screen display just doesn't get the job done.

Oh well, one out of two isn't bad.

As Russ said, the first one carries great detail throughout.  I like the subdued contrast.  I think a print on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag or Bamboo would really look great.  Nice job.  The wildflower doesn't work for me either, but it's more than made up for by the first.

I also like 1 & 3, the restrained contrast and subtle (but still full) tonal scale is really nice. I'm with Russ, these would probably make lovely prints on rag paper. With the wildflower shot, I think you need more contrast; I don't really like the way the leaves blend in with the background.
