Opening smart objects in CS3
« on: April 27, 2009, 06:02:41 am »

I started working on raw files opened in CS3 as smart objects yesterday. This is a really cool feature and I've been looking forward to learning about it. However on opening the files from LR into PS today I found all the layers in the saved tiffs had gone, leaving just a flattened version. A bit of a blow I felt. Plus, when I opened any tiff file in Photoshop via LR I got the Camera Raw dialogue first. Annoying. After a bit of searching fixed the Camera Raw annoyance by going to Edit - Catalogue Settings - Metadata and unchecked the "Include Develop settings in metadata inside JPEG, TIFF and PSD files" box. And voila! All the layers are back in PS. So I would like to understand what's happening here. Can anyone direct me to a good tutorial?
Thanks, David

Postscript. I'm wondering if this may not be a bug. I just tried re-checking the Metadata box and can't replicate the behaviour. Strange.
