These are two iterations of the same image.  I'm torn between which one I like more.  I would love to hear what you all think.  Also, any feedback on the image in general would also be appreciated.  Mahalo.

The darker one shows more detail which I like, but the brighter one makes the other look drab by comparison. Somewhere in between is a winner IMO. A good presentation of these two variations.

I prefer the one without the vignette. I think it would benefit from opening up the shadow on the larger rock a little.

Nice images, though: both of them.

Thank you Dale and Jeremy!  I tried opening up the shadows, but it didn't look natural.  Part of the blame goes to the sunny Hawaiian weather.  I much prefer overcast skies, but those days are few and far between here.  The scene will definitely be reshot on a cloudy day, but I think I have to live with the shadow.  Your input is greatly appreciated.

Ah, perceptions of weather. Try living in Manchester for a while and see how much you hate sunshine then!

Good point!  I did get a taste of that when I lived in Seattle.  The only problem then was wiping the raindrops off the lens constantly.  Nowhere is perfect I guess.

I seem to remember there are parts of Hawaii that get rain more often, but then, they're likely to have a very different look as well (more vegetation?)

I'm also going to suggest something in-between the two. Overall I like the brighter version better, but the light falloff towards the corners is a bit too much; also the portion of the sky on the horizon in the center of the frame could be a touch darker.

Thanks Jeff.  I agree with what you say, and I'm still working to get it to where I want it.

@Dale:  You're right.  One side of O'ahu is much greener and lusher than the other.  I live on the dry side, so going to the wet side is like entering another world.  Still not enough overcast days though IMHO.
