just came back from a hasselblad event today. They also mentioned an app. for the iphone and phocus. I'm guessing something similar to leaf.

Is this true?

Kia Ora David,

Is it true about a forthcoming remote preview app. for the iphone and phocus?

Cheers,

There are a few tools where you can easily control Phocus via an iPhone - Haven't tried it myself though.

One thought did spring to mind...

You could set Phocus to Export new captures automatically in the 'JPEG fast preview mode'.  This is a near instantaneous export of the built in lo res JPEG file in our 3F RAW file.

It could be set to write to another computer on your network (ie The art directors wireless laptop) and then they would pop up one by one as captured without him peering over your shoulder!

With the Air Sharing application on the iPhone, I think you could achieve the same thing....

Just tried it with Air Sharing over wireless and it works.  Pretty neat!

Not sure actually!  But I will find out.

If you see my previous post you can actually setup quite a neat thing with any wireless device or an iPhone using the AirSharing application.

Maybe I've missed it but I don't remember seeing a reference to a sharp preview screen, which every other raw converter has had since day one. It's my main gripe re Phocus. Having to zoom in to check focus is a PITA. And I agree, a highlight recovery feature that equals or even gets near to that in Raw Developer would be great.

Correct and it is corrected in 1.2.

You can use the up/down cursor keys on any tool.

A couple of tools, like the remote focus adjust for example, have modifier keys.  i.e. Cmd+Focus gives you a micro adjustment while Opt-Focus gives you a longer throw on the lens barrel.

Thanks for that David, that is useful. I am having a training session with Warren Garbutt tomorrow. I tried the H3 at a Blad day recently and I was mightily impressed.

Thanks again

Hi David,
Will there ever be a better preview creation (that the current 640x480) in Phocus/Flexcolor? Handing over a day's work to a client in order to make selections is still impossible and makes me have to use the Canon instead of the Hasselblad in many occasions. A quick 1600x1200 preview function would be a great improvement...
Best regards,
Niels

Hi Niels
You can select a higher res embedded preview in Phocus, check your preferences. For my H3D31 the large preview is 812X1082 which I find very very useful.
As an aside Phocu 1.2 has an auto-export feature that I have started using to send previews to another (client) machine. You can choose the clients machine as a location to auto-save previews to as you shoot, keeps them away from the workstation!

If you select the Exposure tool you can use the cursor keys for a .01 EV change or Shift+Cursor for a 0.1 EV change.

Thanks for that David. I will be trying the kit out again this week.

End point control when you export is a critical feature for reproduction. The current version 1.1.2 does not have that.
Hopefully 1.2 will.

Other things to expect in 1.2...

Release before June I would imagine.

Hi, David... can we have an update on the ETA of Phocus 1.2?
...and does it support live video on the H3D11-50 ... and 60?

Interesting how this question is constantly ignored. The 50 model was released almost 6 months ago, and since then live view is promised. Not much fun, as it was working with the 39.

As Dustbak mentioned, Hasselblad has released Phocus v1.2 to the public. It is available for download from Hasselblad's worldwide and regional websites. In addition, I have attached the Phocus v1.2 readme file to give a bit more insight into the changes and improvements found in this latest version.
