Phocus 1.2
« on: April 24, 2009, 11:01:36 am »

I was in my local dealer the other day and ran into a hasselblad rep, he was showing the dealer a beta of the new Phocus software.  I honestly couldn't believe how fast it was!  They were shooting with a 50mp to a laptop and it never seemed to hit a buffer, I think it was something like 40 frames in a minute!  What was really cool though was that it didn't take too long for the images to finish loading after the shoot, maybe 10 seconds before they could start working on them

Did he give you a timeline for releasing it? I had heard early April. I did receive 6 emails from Hasselblad by mistake yesterday asking for feedback from me about 1.2 as an alpha or beta tester(I am not), so perhaps it is not "soon".

Did live video work on the 50 Mpix back? It is not implemented On the current version.

just came back from a hasselblad event today.  I was told phocus 1.2 would be available in June.  The reason for the dramatic speed increase on the 50MP is that is offloads faster than the 39mp. (two leads instead of one).  However we should see some speed improvement with the 39mp.  They also mentioned an app. for the iphone and phocus.  I'm guessing something similar to leaf.

Sorry I should have said, I was shooting with an H3D31 and it was significantly faster. I'm surprised that it would take until June to arrive I would have thought much sooner.

I also was under the impression that they are wrapping up to a sooner release than June (not that June is that far away at this moment). The beta is significantly faster than 1.1, at least with my 39 it is. Amazing that the 50 will be even faster. I wish they would release a multishot CF60

Other things to expect in 1.2...

- Thumbnail badging (Crop, Export, Adjusted etc etc)
- Better thumbnail print dialogue
- Queue changes (Pause, Drag to export...)
- Volumes ejectable from browser
- Extra PSD export options
- Export directly from 3FR (no need to import first)
- Faster exporting generally
- Importing is now a background task
- Navigator
- Grey Scale tool (Channel mixer)
- More!

As well as other things mentioned above - faster tethered capture and so on.

Release before June I would imagine.

I am missing shadow fill in and highlight recovery, which I like in ACR. Any chance of being introduced in Phocus?

Is it possible to use hot keys to adjust exposure like in C1. Or is it by using slider.?

I have only limited experience with C1 but Phocus uses a slider to adjust exposure. Once selected you can use numbers. Sofar I not found or used hot key combinations to alter exposure.

I think Phocus 1.2 for windows should be released almost, if not at the same time as for the Mac.  Let me check though and report back.

You can use the up/down cursor keys on any tool.

A couple of tools, like the remote focus adjust for example, have modifier keys.  i.e. Cmd+Focus gives you a micro adjustment while Opt-Focus gives you a longer throw on the lens barrel.

If you select the Exposure tool you can use the cursor keys for a .01 EV change or Shift+Cursor for a 0.1 EV change.
