Are you refering to the 12.3 megapixel Nikon announcement or the "possible" 1ds mark 11??? Just curious.

Anyway, this appears to be the genuine item:

Probably 16-20MP and other cool stuff.

But even if the 1Ds-MkII or whatever trumps the D2X in MP count, I'd still be very happy and content with 12.4MP, provided that it lives up to the billing.

I need not only higher resolution, but almost, if not equally important, wider DR in the highlights, less color fringing, and long exposures without alot of hot pixels. With my D1X, I can only get up to 3-4 secs at best before a bunch of annoying color dots invade and swamp my pics. Also, better battery life then I've gotten with these NIMH EN-4s. I had a guy down in SC rebuild them, and they are a lot better now, but still not as good as the LIoN batts.

Oh, and here's a biggie that would really really help speed up my workflow, an auto orientation sensor like the D2H, and I believe D70 have. I get tired of having to rotate all the verticals after the fact. Very time consuming.

If the D2X can deliver on all that, I'll be a very happy camper.

If that's legitimate, it'll be interesting to see what the 1Ds replacement will be like.
So it is legit., and the usually reliable CD'I has a story about a 22MP "Canon 2D":

Worries about small pixels seem to be gone with the wind!

Fine with me except I can't afford them: the decision of several high quality camera makers to go in this direction increases my confidence in the mathematical argument that post-processing can convert down to a lower resolution, lower noise, higher dynamic range version when that is preferred. What is more, resolution need only be reduced in he parts of an image that show noise the worst, while full resolution can be maintained in well-lit detail areas.

things are going to get very interesting in megapixel land. Beware, the pixel peepers are still out there.

Mark 11? Whoa! That's a long time to keep the 1D line going don't you think?
