LCD or CRT
« on: April 14, 2004, 07:30:43 pm »

I'm not happy with my Samsung 171s - it's VERY sensitive to viewing angle - even with my eyes centred on the screen, the bottom part of the screen is not perceived accurately.  I'm stuck on space so a CRT isn't a great option.  Make sure you check out any that interest you visually (ie I don't recommend on line shopping) and that the image doesn't change (too much) as you change your viewing angle.

I have a Hitachi CM815 PLus 21" CRT.

Virtually anyone who sees the monitor gasps and goes, "Wow!".

I've got LCDs in my office. The CRT is noticeably better for working with images in PS.
 Just my opinion........

Sorry if this is the wrong area to post. A newbie here.  I have been attempting to identify if a 18" to 21" LCD would bproject a true image as compared to a 18"-21" CRT.  Looking to upgrade from my 17" CRT.  Got plenty of processing power 3.4ghz, 2 GB ram, 256mb ATI Radeon card.  I have heard a CRT like the sony CPD G500 21" or the CPD G4205 19" or the NEC Diamond  Pro 930 19" are really hard to beat as far as true clarity after they have been calibrated.  LCD's I just don't have a clue.

Thanks for your help.

The Samsung 213T is very good about viewing angle image changes; you need to be about 45 degrees off axis before the image starts changing noticeably. It's much better than the cheaper, smaller LCDs, and as least as good as an Apple Cinema Display. I just got one, and I'm very pleased with it.
