Is there a way to reset the % usage of the maintenance tank on a 7900? We use to do this on our 7600. - Paul

Maintenance tank reset on a 7900?
« Reply #2 on: April 16, 2009, 12:57:46 am »

Does anyone know of which chip resetter will work? I have one that worked on my previous 7600 and 7800, but I am suspicious it will not work on my current 7900. I do not want to try it out until I get a replacement maintenance tank, to avoid finding out the reseting corrupts it and renders it useless.

No, on the 7600 resetting was possible through the menu system. I assume that because of the chip this is not possible any longer?

I don't think the 7900 has this option within the menus.

However, I have successfully reset a 9600 maintenance cartridge with a chip resetter. The 9600 uses the same maintenance tank as the 7900 so a chip resetter may work but I have yet to try this with a 7900.

So will anyone take the chance?

Perhaps the worst that could happen is an unusable maintenance tank. But if reseting the chip is performed when the tank is full then perhaps it doesn't really matter too much as a new thank would be needed anyway.

The chip resetter that works on the 9600 and 9800 does not work on the 9900/7900 anymore. You can "reset" the chip but the printer will tell you that you try to cheat  I am glad I had a spare one when I tried this...
