Not lilypads

I don't know what these are, but I think they're some kind of clumps of moss that sit on the non-flowing water in the defunct Ohio canal, South of Cleveland.

Not moss, algae.  Basically a group of single-celled organisms in a clump.

Kinda pretty, though.

That's interesting, and I agree with Mike's sentiment.

But I'm also struggling a bit with this one. It's not sharp, the colours appear muddier than the subject would suggest, and the contrast is fairly low.

There is a more interesting image in something other than the natural representation of the scene. I think you could try twisting the colours around and see what happens.

E.g. mess about with an inverse grayscale layer like I did:

Thanks.  And this looks interesting - I would swear I've seen this in a microscope a few years ago.

No, duckweed actually has a flat leaf structure to it.  I can't remember the name of the stuff in this picture, and at the moment all of my plant keys, etc. are in storage.
