Photo Blogs
« on: April 08, 2009, 12:14:32 am »

Hello All,

It is exam season, so I'm looking for good blogs to follow. I have a few of the big time ones already (onlinephotographer, strobist, luminous, scottkelby, joemcnally.....), but I'm looking to find some good ones of individual photo journalists, who are posting their own stories and shots. shomething low key, off the radar. Hopefully something that covers topics and places that people don't normally see... i.e. my blog (about the stuff i cover) wouldn't fit for what I am looking for. At least it would be nice to find one that is out of North America

any ideas? feel free to post your own if you are in extraordinary places and situations  (however how you define extraordinary is another topic....)

If you want photo journalists and travelers, then there's really only one place you should be looking; sign up at lightstalkers.org and start checking out the websites and weblogs of some of the members over there. That'll keep you busy for awhile.

You're welcome to look at mine; not too much in the way new pictures or adventure at the moment - since I can't even hold a camera. However, it does document my recent plunge of a 40' cliff in Death Valley.   (The resulting broken wrist & recovery explains the absence of new photos.) Outside of that, it tends to be a bit business oriented, which is not everyone's cup of tea.

Cheers, and I'm sure you'll enjoy what you find @ lightstalkers if your into PJ.

IMO, Gary's blog is one of the better ones - good combination of photos, trips, travels and commentary. Others I like include Guy Tal http://guytal.com/wordpress/ and Ron Niebrugge http://www.my-photo-blog.com/ . And of course, my own. : )  http://gregvaughn.wordpress.com/

Thanks for all the blogs! I've added all of the ones I haven't gotten yet to my google homepage... and in fact there were so many that i had to make a new tab just for it!

the lightstalkers website.... I've become a member there, although I'm not sure what being a member means, and I is kind of hard to find other's individual blogs.... enlightphoto, are you affiliated to the site organizers?

No, I've used the site to post photo requests for projects I was photo editing that were more editorial / photo-journalistic in nature, like Hurricane Katrina. The key is just to start looking at user profiles and follow links to web sites and weblogs. That's what I meant by keeping you busy. But for a "type of photograqphy" the membership roster there will be like a bit of a gold mine.

Cheers,
