Thanks, I missed the crop factor when I first read that.

Jack, from the same link: "Note: Lenses with external dimensions exceeding 20.5 cannot be used with this camera. In addition, the following lenses cannot be used (correct as of March 11, 2004)
Hologon 15mm F8, Super Angulon 21 mm F4, Super Angulon 21 mm F3.4, Elmarit 28 mm F2.8 (early models), Summicron 50 mm F2 (dual range Summicron), Hektor 50 mm F2.5, and Elmar 50 mm F3.5."

I have a Bessa R with a couple of lenses gathering dust - if the Epson is reasonably priced, it might make me get them out of the closet...

Here is a new article you can read about this camera at:

http://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/2004/0621/dcr016.htm

It's in Japanese, so you can translate it into english at:

Enjoy.

While it may not be the perfect camera, it comes very close to what I want. I has the manual controls just like the Digilux 2 but with a larger APS sized 6mp sensor. What is there not to like? There isn't a live histogram but I can live with that. The price may be a little higher than normal but I would pay it just because of all of the other sterling qualities. What do others think of this camera?

It looks like a very interesting concept, I hope it becomes available soon. I wonder what the crop factor of tha APS-size sensor in an RF body will be - isn't the distance from the back of the lens to the focal plane smaller in rangefinders? Anyway, if it performs reasonably and is not too expensive, it will be a nice camera for candid street shooting.

I want to know about the shutter-lag.  IF it is as good as the MKII, I'll probably buy one.

The crop factor does not bother me much on that camera since my two favorite focals when I shot the Leica M were 28 and 50.  A 21 will get me to about 30 effective and a 35 becomes about 52 effective so those will be good starting points.   Add in a 75 or 90 and you could have a pretty nifty little street outfit.

Yes, but the 21/2.8 pre-asph, the 21/2.8 asph or the VC 21 should all work as should that late model Elmarit 28 and the new 28 Summicron asph.    The old lens designs listed above don't work on many of the newer cameras due to interference with internals.
