Hasslblad H2 film problem
« on: March 30, 2009, 06:53:10 pm »

I just got my film back from the lab from a shoot with my Hasselblad H2. I was told by the
lab that I had 2 blank rolls of film.

I used 3 backs and reloaded once for a total of 6 rolls. It seems that one of my
backs must be defective. I just got one of the backs from KEH and it was the first time I used it

It just seems strange that it would blank the film. Anyone know why it would do that?

Who is good at fixing Hasselblad H backs?

Good thing I shot half the shoot with digital!

I can only think of three reasons, none of which would apply to someone experienced:

- shots taken with darkslide in (normally not possible, but if broken...)
- film loaded backwards, so that paper faced lens.
- film not loaded properly and didn't move through the camera.

I was having trouble with the film not feeding on one of the backs during the shoot.

I would shoot and shoot and shoot... many more than the 16 frames the back would
hold. I opened the back to see what was going on and the film hadn't advanced.
I finally got it to advance and continued on.

All the film backs moved the film to the final spool and i didnt load any paper side out.

Then I can only imagine that it was a camera side problem. I mean, if the film is facing the camera, and is advancing, and there is no dark slide blocking, then any light passed on by the camera would leave an image... There aren't so many possibilities. Leaf shutter not functioning, mirror staying up, curtain not opening.

I have a similar problem: a few blank frames on my H2/80mm:

- Strangely, one has exposure information printed. Suggesting that the shutter/mirror failed.

- Three consecutive frames have no exposure information. And there was a light leak across the entire frame just after the missed frames.

Did the orginal poster ever get the the cause?

What could be up with my kit?
