For sale, a black Toyo VX125B 4x5-inch large-format camera.
This is a great, very portable hybrid studio/field camera, which weighs 5.5 lbs and measures 12x9x5" when folded. (Compare to a Canon 5D digital SLR with 24-70mm zoom in photograph below.)
The VX125 has a very wide range of movements and takes lenses from 70mm to 300mm out of the box, or from 47mm to 480mm with optional accessories. The front standard accepts Toyo 158mm lens boards or (using an optional adapter) Toyo 110mm field camera lens boards. Included are the camera with bellows, 360-degree rotating Graflok-type back, etched ground glass and Fresnel, two 30mm extension tubes (for use with 250-300mm lenses), original packaging, manual, and U.S. import certificate.
I bought this camera new in 2003 and have cared for it well since then. The entire camera, including all controls and movements, functions smoothly and as new. There is a small amount of brassing and a few small nicks and scratches in the metal here and there. The ground glass has been replaced once, and there are a few scratches on the Fresnel; these are purely cosmetic and have no effect on focusing. There are a few markings on the packaging.
Toyo's price for the VX125B new is $3,999. I am asking $1,500 + shipping.
