Angels Landing - Best Light Season & Time of Day
« on: March 26, 2009, 07:59:58 am »

Hi all. I'm headed back to southern Utah sometime 'soon' (definition of soon will be somewhat dependent on your responses). My last visit included short stays in Zion, Bryce, Arches and Canyonlands. This trip I won't have so much time so may stick with Zion exclusively. Last trip we didn't get to do Angels Landing so that is a priority this time. What time of year provides the best lighting for photos from Angels Landing? (and what time of day?) I prefer to avoid crowds of summer but if that's the best time photo-wise I won't rule it out. Anyone happen to know when Zion narrows / Virgin River is warm enough to hike through w/o "protection?"

Would it be worth taking a day to explore/photograph Kolob Canyon area? Any suggestions for good photo locations there??

Thanks for any suggestions.

You might want to check out Joe Braun's excellent Zion site and perhaps send him a email.
