If you have a collection on one hard drive and you work on those photos and you want those changes to stay with that collection when you move it to another hard drive how do you do that?

If you have another Lightroom library on the second hard disk (or want to create one): Open that collection, select all images in it, and then select "Export as Catalog" in the File menu.  If the second hard drive is mounted, you can even choose to save the export to a location on that drive; otherwise move it there afterwards.  Then re-open Lightroom with the library on the second drive, and select "Import from catalog", using the one you just exported as source.  You´ll get everything, including the existense of the collection you started with, and all the images with all edits, also a copy of the file structure where the originals were stored. Very convenient...

If you want to stay within the same library but move the images to the other HD, just select and drag them in the "Folders" panel in the Library window.  You may want to make virtual copies and move them instead, but then the original image files will still be where you had them in the first place.
