Paper profiling
« on: March 16, 2009, 06:37:21 pm »

hi Guys,

I have been busy profiling my papers on my work printer (HP Z3100) and my home printer (Epson 4000).

I am getting slightly darker prints then I am seeing on my monitor, colors are better then when using canned. btw I have been using a GretagMacbeth iOne Proof kit and the 918 target.

Over the weekend, I was going through files on my computer and found my copy of Camera 2 Print, and thought that i'd play it as i was working. Under the profiling (9), they discuss printer profiling, doing what I have attempted to do. However, I noted that I was doing one thing different, when I print my target I have the document tagged with AdobeRGB, don't ask me why, but I have.

? Question ? what difference does it make, and if the difference is there, i will redo my profiles.

Also, while on the question of profiling. In the iMatch software, there is a little section where you can edit your profile. I am wanting to left my blacks, as i find them too heavy, in particular in B&W images. I have tried to edit my profile. adjusting the Lightness 20-30 points and run it again, but it doesn't seem to make much difference, or have i just not made enough adjustment.

Would be nice to have that ProfileMaker software...ohh well, beggars can't be choosers

thanks for your help and time

IF you printed the tagged target correctly (No Color Management in PS), doesn't matter. The tag doesn't change the numbers unless you actually somehow converted the target data which would be bad!
