When output sharpening in Camera Raw, how exact do you have to be in setting the print size?

Its based on the pixel dimensions set in Workflow Options. Not really all that useful unless you're sending that out to the printer unlike say Lightroom which sharpens based on the print template.

You really b=need to be pretty exact-that's the whole thing with output sharpening, it's SUPPOSED to be done ONLY when your images are at the final output size and pixel resolution. So, at this point it's kinda tricky to use output sharpening directly from Camera Raw because the image size controls are so primitive. If you get a calculator and determine the pixel width and height you can calculate out what resolution will produce that size. Yeah, I'm not kidding, you need a calculator (unless you can do it in your head).

This will change in the future.....

Forgive my ignorance on this, but if the image size is not exactly right, does that mean the output sharpening is completely ineffective, or just less effective?  If the output dimensions are close, will the output sharpening also be close to what it should be?  Thanks.

If I'm think the process correctly, close will be close, closer will be closer.
