Firmware Upgrades

For what it is worth, Nikon did release a free firmware update for the D70 that includes all the software enhancements built into the D70s.

Firmware Upgrades

Software folks have known for years that upgrades make a lot of money for them, but no camera maker sells MAJOR upgrades for existing products. I'm not talking about bug fixes, but additional functionality. Things I would pay Canon for:
1. Fix the mirror lockup stupidity.
2. Auto ISO (set shutter and aptature) let camera pick ISO for proper exposure.
3. Better focusing algorithms as they are developed.
ETC.
Most of the new stuff in the 1D-IIn could be offered as an upgrade to current 1D-II users.

Michael, worth an editorial on your part?
