I had a big portrait shoot on Monday, and in preparation, did a micro focus check on my EF100f2 a few days before, as it is not a lens I use everyday. It required a +20 adjustment, which I thought was a bit too much, and sure enough after dropping it into Canon Oz I was informed that a part was required - and that it would be 3 weeks. OK, no worries they lent me another 100f2 until I get mine back. Checking the loan lens focus showed it was pretty close.
Come the shoot I used the lighting test shots to double check the focus (the 1Ds MkIII was tethered), only to find it was back focusing just a tad (but more than enough to ruin the shoot, given I was shooting face only). A quick trip to the Menu and dialling in the guesstimated 3 unit adjustment, another test shot less than 60 seconds later, and perfect focus!
