CS4 Photomerge issues
« on: March 03, 2009, 01:18:07 pm »

I have used Photoshop's Photomerge a dozen times a week for a few years now for simple flat stitches for client work. It has always worked well for 95% of the images in the basic auto mode. Problems that I have had always had either to do with insufficient overlap or lack of detail in the overlap to find registration points on. These rare problem images were always fixed by using one of the other merge modes. That was until the recent update. Now the auto mode never gives an artifact free merge. There are always abrupt tone changes in skies or blank walls etc. and I have to run through the other modes to find one that will do the job right. Nothing else but this update has changed. The computer is exactly the same (PC XP 4GB ram) and I am doing exactly the same kind of simple stitches that I have been doing for years. Has anyone else seen this problem?
