Possible to use Lightroom in conjunction with NX or C1?
« on: February 26, 2009, 01:58:15 am »

I've read passing references to people using LR for library management but C1 or NX for raw decoding and editing.  At the time I read this, I didn't think much of it, but lately, I've been struggling with highlight roll-overs with my D700 images.  The problem appears to be Adobe Raw's default settings.  I've noticed some of LR other profiles like D2X mode 1, 2 and portrait do a heck of a better job.  It got me thinking what else am I missing using LR's default settings.  Does anyone use C1 or NX with LR?  If so, how are the changes reflected back in LR for viewing?

you can (and may want to) create/apply specific camera profile(s) for LR.  Adobe provides for many cameras (not sure about the D700) or use something close as a launching point.  I think C1 or NX would do a fine job and you'd save as TIFF and then import to LR.
