Ray got one for his 5D. I'm not sure if he's still using it as he purchased a Nikon D700…

Yes, the adapter arrived last September or October after ordering it in March 2008. It appears to be well designed and constructed.
Good luck.

I received mine last week after ordering in December.  Unfortunately the adaptor isn't working properly -- the encoder chip is not communicating EXIF data.  I've sent Mark two emails and left a message for help on his forum but have heard no response yet.  Does anyone know how to contact him or does anyone have other advice of fixing this?  Here's part of the email I sent to Mark.  (Thank in advance to anyone who can help me.)

Hello Mark,

I received the adaptor today and have tried using it with a Nikon 14-24mm G lens.

The only problem I've encountered is that EXIF data is not being record. When I open the files in Aperture, the settings always read 50mm and f2.

The focus confirm works perfectly on my 1ds Mark II. On my 5d Mark II, it blinks -- I'm assuming this is why you write that the adaptor works more smoothly on the newer cameras without the pin. Since I can't afford two adapters, I just want to make sure that the pin isn't likely to damage the 5d (rather it just effects the focus confirm.)

Please let me know how I can correct the EXIF data problem. I have readjusted the stop screw numerous times and am confident that it is precisely as instructed. I've also started the overall installation a couple of times. Perhaps it's a malfunctioning encoder chip?

I bought a used rotating adapter until I received my lever operated adapter from 16-9. I also have a couple of adapters that are "chipped" for Zeiss to Canon EOS. My understanding and what I get for all my "chipped" adapters, 16-9 or others is focus confirmation only there is only a fixed value of focal length and aperture programmed into the chip. So you will not get any valid EXIF data with any of the adapters, focus confirmation only.

Yes this is right, the chipped adapters on any adapted lens can only give a single value of FL and aperture as they don't communicate with the lens.

Thanks MC and Marc for your replies.  I'm embarrassed that I thought that the adaptor did give this information   Just to be clear, in a previous post a fellow LL member wrote this re: the G Adaptor:

"OK Guys I think you can stop worrying - this thing certainly does exist AND works - exif data and all.

It is a little fiddly to set up right but the instructions are clear and you need to ensure that they are followed exactly (eg I didn't get the set screw absolutely flush and even a small amount standing out will prevent mating) - I know 'real men' don't read instructions but these short simple ones you should."

So the EXIF data he was referring to is the fixed focus length and aperture?  And this fixed amount is necessary for Focus confirm to work?

Thanks again!

I don't believe so, when AF chips came out initially I don't think they could be programmed with EXIF data.  Most people just use the info to help ID the photo.

Order the lever operated adapter and don't be disappointed if it takes 3-4 months

I finally got mine today after ordering on June 14. It easily attached to my 14-24, and the combination mounted on my 5D II without any problems.

It's a windy, rainy day, and I'm suffering from a moderately bad cold, so I haven't attempted any photography yet. I did confirm that I can adjust the aperture, and focus to infinity (and a little beyond). I'll share my experience once I've used it, if anyone is interested.
