Or ski touring, I never know the exact word for it... The TRUE ski, without any fuel-smelling cable, grease-smelling "altitude restaurant" or crowded piste - just the mountains.
We started from Tréminis (Trièves) to climb in Dévoluy by the Col de Charnier, one of the few easy passes in the steep west barrier of this range.
All this is just a few kilometers east of the well-known road pass, the Col de la Croix Haute - the divide between northern and southern french Alps.
